  What is an ESTATE SALE?

An estate sale is a huge tag sale put on by professionals and attended by large numbers
of our followers and the general public.  Sometimes, there are so many people that they
cannot all enter at once so numbers are given out for crowd control purposes.  If it is necessary
to dispense buyer numbers, they will be handed out approximately one hour before the start
of the sale.  When you view our estate ads, take note of notifications to customers of the start time and if buyer numbers will be given (Example; NUMBERS 8:00 AM, 8:15 AM ETC...)

In an estate sale, the entire contents of the house are for sale (unless otherwise noted).
Legacy puts a value on each item and places a price tag on it.  On some items,
appraisals are ordered and/or "firm" pricing may be in affect throughout the sale.

On all other items the first day of the sale, the prices are fixed – no negotiating.  Keep in
mind that you may also be competing with dealers and professional bargain hunters so the
really good items usually sell on the first day.  On the second day you may get an item for
less than the tagged price but only after some negotiations.  As a buyer, if you have your
eye on something special, it's best to buy it the first day or as soon as you can.
Our staff will be throughout the house so if you have questions, need help with heavy
items, or need to set up a pick up time, we will be ready to help any way we can.

These "how-to" videos are helpful for those who like to "Do It Yourself."
Video 1
Some basic insight into the sale process.
Video 2: Ordinances
Restrictions, ordinances, permits, days allowed, parking, traffic
jams, population density in area, time-line, lead time, time for set-up
and making sure everything is marked.
Video 3: Preparing

Be ready, trash all the real trash, price items, arrange in like
categories, hang clothing, nothing under tables, space tables for
accessibility, have money for change, present the merchandise
in a way that promotes it's value.
Video 4: Signage
When creating your sign, consider; placement, color, text size,
sign size, directional arrows, sign support, sign attachment,
sign sources, and making multiples.
Video 5: Supplies
Have price stickers, don't use masking tape, how not to ruin your
merchandise, marking for your items, where to keep your cash, tables
for display, use your sale items to display.
Here are some tips to help your signage work for you!
Do you think that's a sign?
Here is a
good example of how "not" to pay attention to our video of
how to prepare.

Oh!, what some tape could have done!

Does that have something written on it? Maybe...
Whatsit Say?
Despite the size of the text, no one at 45 miles per hour can read this sign without some degree of imagination and danger.
Is it a sale, or not?
That is the right color but it's too small and traffic is too fast.
Just say "Estate Sale" or "Sale" and  a large arrow. They will get the idea.

Sign may be easily seen, but drivers will likely not see what is written.

Here are some better examples..

Good Sign
If it is an estate, even homemade Estate Sale signs, done properly,
will bring more people than professional Garage Sale signs. If the
home is for sale ask the Realtor if they have some fliers advertising
the property etc. because your customers will ask.

Great Sign
See how a little effort can solve sooo many problems. This sign is big enough to
see clearly from the road and provides enough information to get people interested.

"The" Sign
This is the type of sign you really want to see! It is bright,
large, and provides all the information for those interested to:
1. Know when the auction is taking place, and
2. Get in touch with someone who can give them more details before the event.
